Competitive Compensation

A citywide market review is conducted annually during the Spring and Summer months. This market review ensures all positions are competitive with our council-approved benchmark cities and utilities.

The City of Georgetown payscales can be found below:

All full-time employees accrue vacation time based on the schedule below. Part-time employees earn vacation on a pro-rated schedule.

Civil Service employees (Firefighters & Sworn Police) receive at least 15 days of vacation leave per year per Texas Local Government Code Chapter 143. Accruals are earned on the 15th and the last day of the month and available to use on the 16th and 1st of the following month.

Sick Time:
Full-time employees earn one day of sick leave per month, and part-time employees on a pro-rated basis.  Civil Service employees (Firefighters & Sworn Police) receive 15 days of sick leave per year per the Texas Local Government Code.

Employees are provided a paid time off benefit to recognize traditional holidays to preserve the rich heritage and traditions of our community and enhance quality of life.

Full-time and part-time employees enjoy thirteen (13) paid holidays per year!

Personal Holidays
Full-time employees receive two (2) personal holidays at the beginning of each fiscal year on October 1st.

Tuition Reimbursement Program
To enable employees by promoting and encouraging the pursuit of higher education opportunities and professional development in job-related and/or career-enhancing courses at an accredited institution. All regular full-time employees are eligible to apply for tuition assistance for eligible coursework upon hire.

Free Recreation and Tennis Center Membership
All employees can receive free membership to the Georgetown Recreation and Tennis Centers by stopping by the Recreation Center and showing their employee identification. This membership also includes your spouse and dependent children. The Recreation Center Membership includes aerobic classes, a weight room/fitness center, a full-court gym, two racquetball courts, a game room, a children’s room, lockers, and showers. Employees also receive a free Tennis Center membership.

City employees also receive a 10% discount on summer and spring break camp, are able to register as residents regardless of where they live and receive two pool passes.

Free Library Cards
All employees and their family members are eligible for free library cards regardless of their residency. The library offers free computer and internet and wireless internet access, free computer classes, children’s programs, tutoring, and free tax assistance and e-filing between January and April 15th.

The City of Georgetown provides funds to pay for your caregivers.
