How do I apply for a job?

The City of Georgetown has implemented an automated application process. To apply on-line, visit https://georgetown.org/jobs/.  We are confident that you will find our application process to be informative and easy to use. Throughout the application process, you will be able to complete and submit your application on-line and also be able to apply for other positions that may become available. You will also be able to monitor the status of your application throughout our recruitment process by creating a personal username and password. You may apply from any computer with internet access. For your convenience, computers are available for use in the Georgetown Public Library, which is located at 402 W. 8th Street or in City Hall, 808 Martin Luther King Jr St. If you need assistance completing your application, please contact a Human Resources representative at (512) 930-3639.

How long does my application stay on file?

Applications are retained as a permanent record of that particular application process or job posting.

What is the timeframe of the hiring process?

After the job position’s posted deadline, the application is forwarded to the hiring supervisor. This generally takes 1-2 days. If selected for an interview, the applicant will be contacted by phone within approximately 2-3 weeks after the application deadline. If not selected for an interview, the applicant will be notified by email concerning the status of their application.

What is the physical location of the Human Resources office?

The Human Resources office is located at City Hall, 808 Martin Luther King Jr St.

What benefits are provided to City employees?

Does the City have a retirement plan?

The City of Georgetown offers a retirement plan through the Texas Municipal Retirement System. The City of Georgetown’s TMRS plan requires a contribution (made by means of bi-weekly payroll deductions) equal to seven percent (7%) of the salary of each regular full-time City employee. The City matches employee contributions on a 2 to 1 basis after the employee is vested at the time of retirement. Vesting occurs after 5 years of employment.
